The project
Coach Brant Minor founded Max Hoops and directs G.R.I.T. Oregon. $GRIT is his project. The photographs on this site are from his camps, club teams, and public coaching work. The film at the top of the home page is his.
Playing
He is from Grants Pass, Oregon. At Grants Pass High School he was a three-time all-conference basketball selection, and he also earned all-league honors in soccer. He played two years of NCAA Division I basketball at the University of Portland and graduated with honors from the Pamplin School of Business.
Coaching
He assisted the University of Portland women’s program and the Warner Pacific men’s program. He then spent five years as an assistant coach at Southern Oregon University. The Raiders won more games in each of those seasons, and he helped recruit Jordan Highland, the 2010–11 Cascade Conference Newcomer of the Year and an NAIA All-American. He is now an assistant coach for the Pacific University men’s team. In his first season there, Nick Drynan became the program’s first Northwest Conference Freshman of the Year. He has also worked camps at Duke, Gonzaga, Oregon, and Tennessee.
The programs
He founded Max Hoops in 2010. It runs camps, clinics, and college-exposure showcases, including The Exclusive, a 50-team NCAA-certified tournament he hosted in Las Vegas in 2018. In 2009 he helped coach and manage the Oregon Stars, a traveling AAU team that played nationally so high school players could face stronger competition. He later helped start the Southern Oregon Showcase, a fall league in Grants Pass. He directs G.R.I.T. Oregon, the club program named for Gratitude, Resiliency, Intensity, and Togetherness.
